YOP Ta Dah and Update August 12, 2012

 takingpartYOP2.jpg

Hello,
I hope everyone is doing well. The last week and a half has been rough around here. My eyes are finally on the mend, but my throat is extremely sore. I have been to four doctors in the last week and had to go to the hospital to get checked out. They tell me conjunctivitis goes hand in hand with a sore throat and ears. First I have ever heard of that. Thank you for all of your kind comments and tips. The one thing that has made me feel the best is the chamomile tea with honey that my good friend Karisma suggested. I have probably had about a gallon of it in the last two days. Enough about my ailments.
I finally finished one of my YOP projects. Yay! The Sidewalk Shawl is done. Yippee!! Here it is.

After I finished it last night I found one missed stitch. I went back and fixed it but I wonder if anyone can spot it. Here it is before I fixed it.
To me it is really obvious, no one else has been able to find it. Fellow yarnies might see it. I am glad I fixed it, even though it was a pain in the butt. It would have bothered me every time I wore it. This shawl is easy to make and fast.  Now that I am done with this I am going to finish the Japanese Flower Scarf this week.
I have started a present though. This is really neat yarn to work with. This is only 8 rows.
I did this in about half an hour. The pattern says you can make it in a weekend and you can. The hook is a P size and the yarn is a 6 (super bulky) Homespun Thick and Quick. It is very soft and I am actually following a pattern for this blanket. I hardly ever do that. This is small, like a throw. You could easily double the pattern to make one for a bed though. I might have to do that for some of the other gifts I am making.
That is one project off my list. I have another Ta Dah for tomorrow and I will post the bag pattern tomorrow. Being online isn't bothering my eyes anymore.
If it is still Sunday in your part of the world, I hope the rest of your weekend is as nice as mine is turning out to be. If it is already Monday, well, I hope you have a good week. Talk to everyone soon. :)

Well done on completeing your shawl, it looks amazing and I'm sorry I couldn't spot the error but I think your right if you could see it then you were right to fix it as that would bug me to lol. The blanket looks great, keep it up and I hope your soon on the mend, nothing worse than being under the weather.

  3. First off, that shawl is BEAUTIFUL! I'm sure it'll get a lot of wear! I saw that ripple pattern for Homespun Thick and Quick but I haven't found the yarn near me yet so I may have to just get it online. I like the regular Homespun so I can only imagine how extra squishy the thick and quick is!

    1. Hi Nicole, I ordered it online. It turned out to be pretty reasonable. There was no shipping if it was over $30. I spent $33. It is expensive but you only need 5 balls for a throw, so I think it works out pretty fair. It is really soft and really warm. It gets very cold here in the winter months.

  4. I love your shawl, I couldn't see any flaws but I do know about making them and needing to fix them so you can be completely satisfied with the finished object. On Instagram there is a crochet along for this shawl. Might have to join in the fun.

I love your ripple blanket, I love ripple blankets and am knitting a zig and zag one.

  5. Your shawl is gorgeous! And I won't bother looking for the missing stitch cuz its lovely either way! We pay far too much attention to our mistakes and forget to enjoy the beauty of the finished object!

  6. Oh, the shawl..................how lovely is that. I did spot the 'error' but don't think most people would have unless they had done LOTS of pineapple before. You did a find job fixing it and you will gets lots of lovely compliments when you wear it.

Your throw is going quickly and I love all the colors so far. Bet we get to see it as a FO next week, yes?

  8. Gorgeous shawl....it is annoying me, but I can't spot your mistake, you were right to sort it though it's funny how a mistake seems to jump out from everything when it's your mistake.

I looked up that yarn last time, the colours are lovely, it's nice to do a quick project isn't it!

  9. That shawl is beautiful--and no, I couldn't see where the mistake was. I am in awe of your skill, as I doubt I'd have been able to fix a mistake in lace like that.

  19. Love your shawl and just added it to my list of to do's. I couldn't find the missed stitch but I didn't look really hard either. I wouldn't have been obsessing over it too if it was mine. Good go on the blanket - looks like it is working up rather quickly for you.
