I am so happy! The One-A-Day group is back and I am starting a new project to celebrate. My Grandala Blanket, that I worked on for 6 months, was my first One-A-Day project. Unfortunately that blanket was destroyed the first week that it was finished and on my bed. I tried to repair it but it is too damaged. I have been thinking of making something new to replace it. My bed needs a blanket. So in honor of my favorite group returning, here is the first square.
Carole hosts this group on Ravelry and has a link page on here blog called Tuesday's Tallies. I have met so many people and gotten such great ideas from this group. Go check out Carole's blog, you won't be sorry.
We are off to Adventureland today. Some family fun time. It is in the 90's again, but that is ok. I will talk to everyone soon.

The first blanket was on our bed for three or four days and my daughter got sick with the flu. She came running into my room and got sick all over the blanket. I had made the blanket with acrylic yarn so that it could be washed, however, I had never made a granny square blanket before and some of my ends weren't long enough. Some of it unraveled from the inside of the squares. I spent hours and hours trying to fix it. Big lesson. Leave very long tails to weave in on granny squares.

I was upset about it for a long time, now I am looking forward to making another blanket. That is the best way for me to look at it. Lol.

DeleteOne-A-Day is fun. You don't seem to lack motivation to finish projects like some of us. That group has kept me going on some of the larger blankets I have made.
Sorry to hear that your blanket was damaged, but you have made a lovely square and I can't wait to see what lovely blanket you will produce to take its place :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have made 10 squares so far. One yesterday morning. We are packing to move house, I had to take a break this evening before be and I sat and made 9 squares. They are addictive.
ReplyDeleteI read about the blanket on Rav and was really hoping it wasn't your One a Day one. You must have been so upset, losing all those hours of work. I'm sure this new blanket will grow really quickly.
ReplyDeleteI can't bring myself to make another Grandala right now. I will at some point, I love the pattern. I have always wanted to make a traditional granny square blanket though. The squares are fun to make and work up so quickly.
