A Thank You Present

Hello,
I hope everyone is doing well today. Last Saturday I had to go to a conference for childcare workers. It lasted all day and I had asked one of the young girls I work with to watch my daughter for me. She said yes and watched Autumn Saturday afternoon for about 4 hours. When I got home from the conference and tried to pay her she would not take my money. It made me feel bad. I wouldn't have asked an 18 year old girl to give up her Saturday afternoon if I had known she wouldn't let me pay her. When I tried to give her the money she said 'Oh, no, you made me a cake'. Well, I had made her a cake, but it was for her birthday. That night I started looking on Ravelry for patterns and ideas for something to make for a little thank you gift. I have really liked this bag for a long time and have been planning a CAL for it in the group that I moderate for. I also liked this bag. These bags inspired this bag.
I had the handles from a clearance sale I went to last summer. I had the yarn from my huge collection of cottons. The motif is a combo of the Tincture Of Spring Purse and something I saw in a book. The pattern is my own, but I wanted to make sure I gave credit to Darlisa Riggs who came up with the Tincture Of Spring Purse, which I really love.
I am giving the bag to my friend tomorrow at work and I really hope she likes it. Kind of hard for a 44 year old to know what an 18 year old will like. I will talk to everyone soon. :)

  1. Wow, Kashi.. she's sure to love and treasure that bag! Handmade things are at an all-time premium for young people right now, I think. And if she's sweet enough to turn down money, then for sure she's got the right character to love your gift. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. She'll be thrilled, what 18 year old doesn't love bags???
It is difficult when people turn down money for childcare, but I am sure she will appreciate the bag very much.

    1. Thank you, I was feeling self-conscience about it for some reason. I filled it with chocolate too. I know she will like that. Lol. Besides bags, what 18 year old girl doesn't like chocolate.

  4. So blogger is acting very strange. I am trying to publish comments and they are dissapearing and coming up on the comment page but not being posted. I have also had a lot of my regular commenters go to spam and they are not spam. If you take them off the spam list they don't get published at all. That is what happened to the comment from GirlAnachronismE. There were several others too, but they have disappeared. If you comment on my posts and they don't show up, that is why. I am contacting blogger to try to fix it. Thank you.
