The Jacket and The Swap

Hello,
I hope everyone is having a great week. I am really happy I have finally finished these jackets. I meant to have them in the mail last Friday, but I didn't finish the blue one until last night.
I will mail them when I go to lunch today..
I hope they get there really quick, especially since I meant to send them last week..
I got my swap parcel yesterday...It came really fast. My swap partner sent it last Wednesday. I sent mine last Tuesday and it hasn't gotten there yet. The swap was with the We Love Lucy Group over on Ravelry. It was a whole lot of fun. I was paired with Tracy, aka, Chickencrazy12. She sent some really nice gifts and was so kind to send Autumn a gift as well.
Autumn was just as excited as I was to see what was inside..
It was all beautifully wrapped, however, Autumn had it all out and open before I could get the pictures. There are so many presents in this parcel. A murder mystery, a crossword book, buttons, candy, a postcard of Somerset, England bunting, Woolcraft yarn, Stylecraft yarn, There is a snowman ornament that lights up and changes colors. A lovely crochet ornament that Tracy made. It is on my tree. I am going to have to try to get a picture later when the sun comes up. It just wouldn't show up in all the photos I took. A little family of elephants. I love the elephants, I collect them..
The swap was so much fun and Tracy really did her homework. Everything she sent suits me perfectly! Thank you Tracy.  Autumn collects bears, so she LoVes the Polar Bear.
I didn't post Tuesday's Tallies this week because, for the first time, I didn't work on the Grandala blanket at all this past week. I have had so many projects that had to be done in time for mailing. I hope to work on it this week. It is so close to being finished too.
Autumn decorated this gingerbread house. I put the icing on and she put all the candy on. I thought it turned out cute.

I hope everyone has a great week. Thanks for reading my blog.

A Little Ta Dah

Hello,
How is everyone today? It is the 3 month anniversary of my blog. I still have a lot to learn and pretty soon I need to re-format everything on the page, but so far so good. I love the response I have gotten from everyone and I have made some new friends out there in cyberland. Blogging has really helped me get more organized and to finish up the projects I start. That is a really good thing. My stash is shrinking and my WIP pile is almost gone. Another good thing since I love starting new projects.
This week the weather is starting to turn. We have had such a strange year with the weather. Last winter was really cold. We had a few weeks of below zero (farenheit) and then our normal hot and humid summer. September was really cold. Then October and November were relatively mild. Not sure what we are in for this winter. I might get in trouble for saying this but I love the snow and am waiting for it to come.
As I said, it is starting to get cold. On the days leading to Black Friday I kept seeing a scarf on the ads for Kohl's department store. I loved it and looked online to try to see a better picture of it. They didn't have it featured anywhere on the stores sits. The woman in the ad was wearing it and dancing around. Every time the ad came on I would see it and want it. I went in the store for a closer look and they didn't have it. Believe me, I don't like going to department stores, so you know I really wanted this scarf. What's a crafty girl to do? I made one from my memory of what I saw. I got this yarn at Hobby Lobby, where else. I spend way to much time in that place. They have a few lines of yarn and this one is Yarn Bee,  the color is Lovely.
It is so soft and so warm. I made the scarf really long. The woman in the ad has it draped around her neck a few times..
Please pardon the picture. I could see my reflection in the mirror while I was taking this and I kept laughing. It is four in the morning and I am the only one awake and here I am taking pictures of myself with bed head and my jammies.  I love my scarf though.
Lucy from Attic24 says some colors are your soul colors. They are the ones you naturally go to. Well, green and purple are mine, my sister's, my brother's and my Dad's. I love pink too, I really do, but green and purple together have always been my favorites. When I was in my early 20's all three of us kids lived with my Dad. A friend of my sister asked us if those were our family colors. I always thought that was funny. So, do you like my scarf? I love it. It was easy peasy to make. I chained until it was long enough. Then I did one row of hdc, one row of sc, one row hdc, one row sc. Then 3 rows dc, one row sc, one row dc, one sc. Three more rows of dc. Then one row sc, one row hdc, one row sc and the last row hdc. No counting. Very simple and I have gotten comments on it in every place I went yesterday.
Now for some more yarn love. I came home Wednesday night and there was a parcel waiting. From England. What could it be? Autumn knows me so well, she said "Mommy, I think you got some yarn in the mail". I have never gotten yarn in the mail before so that made me laugh. She was right. Deramores sent me my Lucy Pack, or Attic24 Pack.Whatever you want to call it, I love the yarn. I am making myself finish the Christmas stuff before I do anything with it. For now I get to look at it and admire it. Here is my pack of 17 balls of Stylecraft dk yarn.
I have never bought yarn before without a project in mind, so this is kind of fun. Choose a project to fit the yarn.
My husband must think I am daft, but he lovingly puts up with me. At least I am creative, lol. Well, I have been up for 3 hours now and I have done nothing but mess around on the computer and take pictures. I downloaded the program for our new camera though and that took over an hour.
I am almost done with another cardigan and will post tomorrow or the next day with photos. Happy Friday everyone.

Tuesday' Tallies and a Big TA DAH!

Hello,
How is everyone tonight? My camera finally took it's last photo tonight. I am going to have to go get a new one this week. How can you blog without a camera? I have tried to get the pictures from my phone out on my email and into my photo gallery, but it just won't work. My husband couldn't figure it out either. We have gotten the photos from email and into the photo gallery before, but things are just haywire around here right now.
The first thing I got accomplished today was to send my swap package off to the UK. I am in the We Love Lucy group on ravelry and I signed up for the Christmas swap. This is my first swap and I have been so excited. I can't wait until my new friend Tracy gets her package.
The package left Iowa today and should be in Somerset, England by the end of next week. Yea!.
I have also been busy working on my One-A-Day, hosted by Gingerbreadgirl. Also on Ravelry. What would I do without Ravelry? I love it. Well, my camera is not working at all now. I couldn't get any photos of the Grandala blanket. It is about half-way done. I have all the squares finished and now need to sew the rest of it together. I will post pictures very soon.
I did finish my favorite project ever though. Are you ready? Here it was yesterday...
And now for the big reveal... Drum roll please....

I can't wait to start the next blanket. Do you think I am an addict? Most likely, but I have been dreaming about the next blanket for a few days. I am going to go get a camera tomorrow or the next day. I have another ta dah for later this week. Talk to everyone soon. :)
P.S. Go check out Gingerbreadgirl's blog. She links all the Tuesday's Tallies. There are some gorgeous projects going on over there.

Ta Dah!

Hello,
Thanksgiving weekend is just about over. It was so nice here on Thursday and Friday. It started to get cold yesterday and today was very dark and cold. No snow yet. It was the perfect morning to sit with my crochet and finish up one of the projects that have to be done before the end of the coming week. I have to get this and it's partner in the mail by Friday.

I still have to finish the blue one I am working on. The light is bad, but I thought the jacket turned out pretty cute.
Autumn had another party to go to this afternoon. This morning was nice and relaxing though. We both sat on the couch, me with my crochet and she with a weaving kit she got for her birthday. We didn't even bother to get dressed.
She has started her own stash, I love it.
I found an old project that I started last summer and it got stuck under the couch somehow.
This is the bottom of a bag that is going to be felted. I made a few bags last summer and felted them. I gave them all away and it was before I blogged so I didn't take any photos. This one is for me and I love the pattern. It is fair isle and will look neat when done. Well, my camera is dying and my computer is having issues.  I had better not press my luck. I will see everyone on Tuesday's Tallies.

Kashi's Corner

Hello everyone,
I don't participate in Black Friday, way too many crowds. If you are brave enough to be out there, Good Luck and Happy Shopping! The news was crazy this morning, one shooting in California. People waiting to get in to Walmart. Not me. I prefer to hang out in Kashi's Corner.
We used to live in a great big house and I had my own room for storing all of my crafty pursuits. We knew I was going to have my knees (at the time we thought I would do both at the same time) replaced and I wouldn't be able to maintain the house. Or get up the stairs. Or fit in the bathroom with the walker. I could go on. We also knew I wouldn't be working for an extended period of time and would have to watch our expenses. I ended up staying home for four months and now am only able to work part-time. Eventually I can go back full-time, but I did have to leave a job that I dearly loved because I can't stay on my feet for long periods of time.  So we packed up and moved to our tiny little home. I do really like it here, but I really miss the space we had at the old house. This is Kashi's Corner...
I took over this corner of our living room when we first moved in. Here is a closer look at what I have packed in here, and I can honestly say it has gotten a lot better since I started the yarn diet. I won't let myself start anything new until the WIP's are done. Except for things people pay me to make.
   My Grandala blanket, almost done...
The Christmas present that may not get finished in time...
The Happy Ripple, which will be done in time for gifting...
This gorgeous needlepoint that I got for my birthday (last year). I wouldn't let myself start it because I had so many projects in the works. It is "The Lady and the Unicorn". I love it and do want to work on it. It is 3ft. by 4ft. though. I may not finish it until I am 60. Maybe I can do it as a One-A-Day. It is yarn after all.
Two sweaters I am working on for my friend's twin nephews. Isn't the bucket great? I got it for Christmas last year.
It holds 6 skeins at once and they won't tangle. Great for multi-colored projects.  This is not the only area I have taken over. The dining area wall is all mine too...
When we finally move out of here I might have to change my blog name to Kashi's Crochet or something, lol. For now this is it. Kashi's Corner. I hope you all enjoy stopping by. I love having all the visitors I have gotten since I started blogging in September. The comments have all been so kind and encouraging. If you are here in the States, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving weekend. If you are elsewhere in the world (most of my readers are) then I hope you have a fantastic weekend. See you all soon.
P.S. I am doing really well, I used to have so much stash that it was stacked about 3 ft. up in the corner where I sit. I am trying to concentrate on only two or three things at a time and I think I may get there soon.

Tuesday's Tallies

Hello,
Here we are again. It is really fun looking at everyone's Tallies right now. The projects are getting really big, some are done, and some are taking One-A-Day breaks to make Christmas stuff. If you want to see everyone's work then head over to Gingerbreadgirl's blog. She is the moderator for the One-A-Day group and she has a nice blog too.
I am still plugging away on my two projects. I am working on a whole lot of presents right now too, I have finished three, but still have a few to go. I am also out of the lavender yarn that I need for my Grandala squares. So here is what I have made this week...
I also put in some work on the Happy Ripple...

This is getting really hard to photograph. To put it in perspective, our couch is over 6 ft. long...
I love this blanket so much, one more picture...
I love both of these blankets so much, the Grandala is going on our bed. It is so close to being done. I have 230 squares done. Need 58 more. Not too bad. Maybe before Christmas, but probably right after.  Here is my shocker though. I love the Happy Ripple, really love it. I have decided to give it away as a Christmas present. It will be done this week I think. My husband helped me decide. I will tell everyone who I gave it to after the holidays. I love it, but I have an idea for another blanket and I have 5 blankets here in the house already.  It will be hard to part with though.
Well, that's it for today. I am going to go look at everyone's blogs now. Talk to everyone soon.

Sunday Sunday

Hello everyone,
I can't believe Thanksgiving is this week. I don't have any idea where the year went. I know I spent the entire summer couped up here in the house recovering from that knee replacement, but here we are about to start the holidays. Yikes. I have been busy making all kinds of goodies and I can't wait until I can actually show them to all of you. I joined my first swap over on Ravelry and it is with the We Love Lucy group. I am really excited about this and have already finished my present for my new friend Tracy. I had an idea of what I might make and then we got our information about each other this week and have been exchanging emails and I went shopping yesterday. Yea! I made the main part of her gift over the last three days and I hope she likes it. My husband saw it and liked it, that made me feel a bit less nervous.
My daughter has had a really rough week. On Monday she had to have a tooth pulled and that was no fun. Tuesday she seemed OK until the afternoon and evening. She started getting really cranky and kept crying for no reason. Wednesday she woke up with a sore throat, left eye swollen and mattery, and her face was a little swollen. My regular dentist was still out of town so I made an appointment with our family doctor and my husband took her in. She had developed an infection, the other dentist said it couldn't be because of the tooth she had pulled. My doctor said otherwise and put her on antibiotics. I don't know why the dentist said it couldn't be from the tooth. Even I know that with an abscess there can be infection in your body as well. She is doing better now and we have follow up appointments with our regular dentist and she will be fitted with a spacer since the new tooth won't grow in until she is 9 or 10.  Poor thing. I really don't know how the poor baby came up with teeth like this. In April at her check up she was fine. In September we were told she had 3 cavities and would have to have root canals and all that.
My daughter has been invited to another birthday party next weekend so this morning I made a scarf and hat for her friend.
I started by making these squares for a granny scarf...My daughter said it was ugly and didn't like it. I liked it but made something else anyway...
The hat was easy peasy and took 20 minutes to make. Truly..
The scarf took a little over an hour and a half, but I spent the morning at the laundry mat so it was the perfect project to kill time...Here it is..
  And on my favorite model...
I think her face is still swollen, she looks a little puffy to me. These are super easy to make and really warm. If anyone is interested in the pattern then leave me comment and I will post it. I made the hat up as I went along, I did write it down when Autumn said she thought it was cute.
I am really ready for some down time. Will has to work Thanksgiving Day so Autumn and I are just going to hang around the house. We will have a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday for the three of us here at home. I wish my Mom could come for the holidays, but she is participating in a half-marathon the first week of December and has to get ready for that. Flying up here and being away from home would probably not work with her training schedule. I am proud of her though. I can't even walk a mile right now and she is doing a half-marathon. Well, this was a long post. I had better leave everyone to enjoy the rest of Sunday. I will see everyone on Tuesday for Tuesday's Tallies.
I wanted to thank everyone for their very kind comments and for my new followers. I still have a hard time believing anyone is interested in what I have going on. :)
